LG G3 Hands On: It’s All About the Screen

Smartphones with large displays have a tendency to glare at people from across the room and the LG G3 is no exception. If it weren’t for this smart cover as shown in the image above, it could become an eyesore to people in a dimly lit restaurant from its huge 5.5″ display. Many other features of this quad-core smartphone can also be activated without opening the cover, making it less obvious that you are using it in say, a movie theater. However, if you are one of those people who likes to play your car audio so loud that everyone is the neighborhood can hear you as you drive down the street, you won’t want the cover. This phone is for you right out of the box (just kidding). As you will see in the video above, the pixel density is such that when viewing photographs taken by its camera, it is as if you are viewing a high quality magazine photograph. The video goes beyond 8 minutes and takes the time to skim over some of the G3’s many features that I did not know were available even after watching other videos. I hope you will enjoy this post.

LG G3 Hands On: It’s All About the Screen

LG officially unveiled on Tuesday its latest flagship smartphone, the 5.5-inch LG G3.

The G3’s most distinguishing feature is its screen: It has a mind-blowing 2,560 x 1,440 resolution, which means its pixel density is a truly eye-popping 538 pixels per inch. To put that in perspective, that’s the same resolution as a 27-inch iMac. The LG G3 isn’t the first phone with this high of a resolution, but it’s the first mainstream smartphone. LG calls it “quad-HD,” but that’s a bit of a misnomer — this isn’t a 4K display in a smartphone, but it’s the highest resolution I’ve seen to date.

The screen, which is an IPS LCD, is vivid and bright. Pixels and colors popped; watching 4K video clips, running through the applications, and taking and viewing photos all looked great. If I’m being honest, though, I’m not actually sure whether I could see more detail on the LG G3 than on other smartphones, or if it was the screen’s size that made the difference. –Learn more: http://mashable.com/2014/05/27/lg-g3-hands-on/
