Camera Stabilizers On Parade

camera stabilizers
Camera Stabilizers On Parade On Saturday, October 10, 2015, I took the time to visit my friends over at AbelCine in Burbank for their "Modern Camera Movement: Gimbals and UAVs" demonstration. My time was well spent learning more about various types of camera stabilizers, though I did not stay for the lunch that followed. On display were camera stabilizers from DJI, Freefly and Steadicam along with Arri and Canon cameras. Our post of 2013/12/07 reveals the introduction of the Movi m-10, and […]

E3 VR On Stage-Virtual Reality

E3 VR On Stage-Virtual Reality Kahlani Leon, Nonlinear Post's News Correspondent, and I traveled to the Los Angeles Convention Center for the 2015 Electronic Entertainment Expo. Our mission, search and report on E3 VR. The featured video documents some of what we experienced, and man, we certainly met some very serious gamers at this event! In fact, E3 VR practically met us at the door in an exhibit by Samsung using the Galaxy S6 phones. Be sure to check out […]

Editor's Reel - Stu Brown 2015

Editor's Reel - Stu Brown 2015 My editor reel for the first half of 2015. The editor can only show excerpts from the finished products, but not what it took to get there (i.e., the problems that had to be solved, etc.) The resourcefulness of a good editor cannot be measured by the result of his or her work, but only while in the dark corners of an edit bay at various hours of the day or night. Steadfastness, ingenuity, integrity […]

Blackmagic Design - 3 New Cameras

blackmagic design
Blackmagic Design - 3 New Cameras Blackmagic Design has lost no momentum with introduction of 3 new cameras. Namely, the Blackmagic Design Micro Studio Camera, Micro Cinema Camera, and Ursa Mini. I had the opportunity to visit Blackmagic Design at NAB 2015 again this year, and met with Terry Frechette, Director of  Corporate Communications and Kendall Eckman, the West Coast Product Repesentative. The Blackmagic Design Micro cameras deserve the title "micro" as they both record to SD cards and can […]

Ice America Ice Skating Rink

Ice America Portable Ice Skating Rink - Footage Here is some footage shot in December 2014, in beautiful, downtown Burbank, California of an Ice America portable ice skating rink at night. I shot this footage to show the low-light ability of the Blackmagic Design Pocket Cinema Camera. The footage was captured at 1600 ISO using a 14-45mm Panasonic Lumix lens with a maximum f3.5 aperture (a rather slow lens). Despite the lens' shortcomings, to me, the result was quite impressive. Using the […]

I really like this company because not only are their products rugged, light, durable and cost-effective, but also the customer service is excellent. […]

8k TV: NHK Debuts Super Hi Vision NABShow 2014

nhk
8k TV: NHK Debuts Super Hi Vision NABShow 2014 by Stu Brown, April 11, 2014 It is easy to dismiss 8k TV as an unattainable goal to reach, but if that attitude prevailed, historically speaking, we would have never had the "horseless carriage." Philo Farnsworth, the man credited with the invention of television, would be astounded at the incredible quality of the picture that 8k TV delivers. I was astounded as well. Though I arrived too late to witness the […]
